Doloc Town is developed by RedSaw Games Studio and published by Logoi Games and Pathea Games. It arrives on August 5, 2026 as a full 1.0 release following its Early Access period and launches on PC through Steam for a baseline price of nineteen ninety nine USD. The press kit remains guarded and locked, so coverage relies entirely on publicly available Steam media.

The game takes place in a side scrolling post apocalyptic pixel art world where the player assumes the role of a scavenger attempting to build a homestead inside the sanctuary known as Doloc Town. The town is not a traditional farming space. Instead of flat fields, the player constructs vertical farms and living quarters by stacking platforms upward one level at a time. This vertical design becomes the foundation for the game’s identity.

Doloc Town expands its systems with gene editing and automation. More than thirty crop types can be modified to survive extreme weather conditions, and the player can build solar and wind powered drone stations that handle automated seeding, watering, and harvesting. The result is a hybrid of farming simulation and light engineering where the player gradually replaces manual labor with a network of machines.

Exploration and combat round out the experience. The world branches into multiple biomes including the River Valley, the Wetlands, and the Old City Ruins. Combat takes the form of bullet hell side scrolling encounters supported by customizable combat drones. These drones allow the player to tailor their approach as they push deeper into the ruins and gather the resources needed to expand their vertical homestead.

Visual Artistry and Polish: Mid Tier (Middle 50%)

The game utilizes a functional, retro inspired pixel art direction that serves its platforming perspective well, though it lacks the sheer animation panache of category leaders like Fields of Mistria.

  • Environmental Aesthetic: Post apocalyptic ruin juxtaposed with vibrant greenery creates a pleasant visual contrast, supported by detailed environmental sprite work across distinct biomes.
  • Perspective Shift: Transitioning the traditional top down farming sim into a 2D vertical side-scroller gives the visual layout a distinct character.

Mechanical Depth and Systems: Mid Tier (Middle 50%)

Doloc Town introduces genuine mechanical ambition through vertical building, crop gene manipulation, and drone automation, though these systems occasionally clash with its combat elements.

  • Vertical Spatial Puzzle: Stacking platforms upwards forces players to think about farm layout in two dimensions rather than flat grid plots.
  • Automation and Genetics: Advanced systems like crop gene modification and drone automated harvesting give late game progression a satisfying logistics angle.
  • Tonal Disconnect: The side scrolling bullet hell combat sequences create an awkward mechanical friction against the otherwise relaxed, low stress farming loop.

Scope and Longevity: Mid Tier (Middle 50%)

Featuring a campaign spanning over thirty hours of core content alongside expansive town relationships and biome exploration, the title offers respectable volume.

  • Content Volume: Over forty resource types, thirty crop species, gene modification trees, and thirteen fully written townsfolk romance and friendship storylines.
  • Replayability Limits: Once automation is established and the vertical farm is fully built out, the incentive to engage with long term sandbox play diminishes.

Genre Ranking Assessment: Doloc Town

Within the crowded cozy simulation and farming RPG landscape, Doloc Town attempts a bold structural crossover by blending side scrolling platforming, vertical space management, and automated post apocalyptic survival.

Rating 2 out of 5 Thumbs: 👍 👍

Evaluating the game through our dimensional framework yields a 2 out of 5 Thumbs baseline, bound by the cozy genre ceiling for titles that provide enjoyable loop variations without redefining the category baseline.

Toes: 🦶 🦶 🦶 🦶 🦶 🦶 (For great hybrid Vibes)

Consensus

Doloc Town is a creative, well constructed hybrid that succeeds in fusing platforming with farming automation. However, because it operates within the cozy simulation umbrella without dethroning top tier genre sovereign like Fields of Mistria, it is capped by rule at a 2 out of 5 Thumbs evaluation.

Please note: 2 Thumbs for a cozy game is still respectable.
