Rocksteady Studios produced a tragic example of twisted psychology gubbins overriding creative talent. What should have been a narrative driven follow up to the Arkham series is manifest as a live service disaster designed by a committee of accountants. It is a punch down from a legendary studio that chose to trade its soul for a battle pass.
The loops are exhausting and repetitive. They rely on a chaotic M+1 combat loop where every character regardless of their lore feels like a generic delivery vehicle for a machine gun. Traversal is comfortable on the eyes and fast paced yet the actual engagement remains hollow. Tutorials are a relentless bombardment of pop ups for currencies and gear scores that stifle the solo adventure feel. You are not playing a superhero game but a chore simulator with capes.

The depth is a facade of loot rarity and incremental stat boosts. Wireframes for missions are identical across the entire map consisting of protect this truck or stand in this circle. Animations are top tier yet they serve a combat system that lacks the mechanical precision of the Arkham titles. Quests are not worth doing for the story as they exist purely for the chase the new gear treadmill. It is a slutty Warframe clone without the charm or the fair monetization.
This is a technical wreck that demands bleeding edge specs for a mediocre experience. Even on a high end rig the game suffers from connection FFP issues because it insists on a constant backend connection for its always online gubbins. Most critically the PC port feels like a console first afterthought. The gamepad mapping is the only way to play because the Keyboard and Mouse interface feels clunky and unoptimized.
The monetization is the true monstrosity here. Despite a seventy Euro entry fee the game is heavily distorted by mobile style battle passes and a premium cosmetic shop. It does not respect your time or your wallet. Rocksteady effectively abandoned the title in early 2025 ending seasonal content updates after only four seasons. It creates artificial grinds purely to keep you looking at the buy currency buttons.
At 70 Euros the price to value ratio is offensive. You are paying a premium price for a game that treats you like a free to play whale. The entertainment value evaporates within the first ten hours once you realize you have already seen everything the game has to offer. The developer has confirmed that support is ending and the servers will likely not stay up for long. Steam sale @95% off has it at 3.49Euros

Suicide Squad is a masterclass in how live service greed can destroy a prestige studio. It is a poorly designed grind heavy mess that insults the source material and the player. Support for the title was pulled in January 2025 making this a dead game walking. Save your money and your hard drive space.
